jesus-trump.org Privacy Policy

Last updated: Aug 18, 2025

Jesus-Trump.org lets people rate how “Trumpy” or “Jesus-y” a church feels and browse community ratings. We keep data collection minimal and use it only to run the service.

What we collect

  • Ratings you submit: church placeId and name, your 0–100 rating, and a timestamp.
  • Technical metadata when you submit a rating: IP address and browser user-agent (to prevent spam/abuse and diagnose issues).
  • Location (optional): if you tap “Find Nearby Churches,” your browser may share latitude/longitude. We use it only to fetch nearby results and do not store your precise device location.
  • Search queries: text you type (church name or address) to find places.
  • Places cache: to display churches consistently and power maps, we keep a small cache keyed by placeId that may include the church’s name, formatted address, latitude/longitude, business status, and a “last fetched” time. These values come from Google Places Details and are refreshed periodically.
  • Cookies:
    • cookie_consent — remembers that you accepted the banner.
    • <placeId> — stores your rating for that church on your device (functional; not for tracking).
  • Server logs from our hosting provider (Google Cloud) may include IP address, request path, and timing data.

How we use data

  • Show averages and counts for churches, and remember your own rating on your device.
  • Detect and mitigate spam/abuse (e.g., excessive submissions from the same source).
  • Operate, secure, and improve the site (debugging, performance monitoring).
  • Power features like search results and, in the future, maps—using the places cache (name/address/lat-lng) keyed by placeId.

Third-party services

  • Google Maps Platform (Places, Geocoding, Text Search) to find churches and addresses. Your queries and, if provided, location bias may be sent to Google’s APIs.
  • Google Cloud (Cloud Run, Firestore) to host the site and store ratings and the places cache.

Donations

We accept voluntary donations to help cover hosting and development. At launch, we only accept cryptocurrency:

  • Bitcoin (BTC): you can donate on-chain to a public address (we rotate addresses periodically for privacy).
  • Lightning (⚡ BTC): you can donate via a Lightning Address or invoice for fast, low-fee payments.
  • Monero (XMR): you can donate to a project subaddress. Monero provides enhanced on-chain privacy for donors.

What we see: We see the wallet addresses and transaction amounts visible on their respective networks (Lightning is off-chain; Monero provides stronger privacy). We do not collect your name or email unless you contact us.

  • Donations are not tax-deductible and are non-refundable.
  • If you buy crypto through an exchange or card provider, that provider’s privacy practices apply.
  • We may publish aggregate donation stats (e.g., total donated) without personal data.

Advertising

We do not run ads right now. If we add advertising later, we’ll update this policy and, where required, present controls (e.g., consent options) since ad partners may set cookies or process identifiers.

Sharing

  • We do not sell your personal information.
  • We may publish or display aggregated, de-identified statistics (e.g., average rating for a church).
  • We may disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights and users.

Data retention

  • Ratings (including IP and user-agent attached to that rating) are stored in Firestore for the life of the project unless we periodically prune for abuse control.
  • Places cache entries are refreshed periodically (e.g., around every 30 days) to keep name/address/lat-lng current; entries may be updated or removed over time.
  • Donations: we don’t run accounts; we keep basic bookkeeping records (e.g., date/asset/amount) for tax and operations.
  • Cookies remain on your device until you clear them or they expire.
  • Server logs are retained per Google Cloud’s default log retention.

Your choices & rights

  • You can block location sharing; nearby search will simply not work.
  • You can clear cookies to remove locally stored ratings on your device.
  • You may request access to or deletion of ratings you submitted. To help us find the record (since we don’t have accounts), include the church name/place and approximate date/time; sharing your IP can also help us locate the entry. Email us at jesustrumporg@gmail.com.
  • If you are in a region with privacy laws like the GDPR/UK GDPR/CCPA, you may have additional rights. Contact us and we’ll help.

Security

Data is stored on Google Cloud infrastructure. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we apply reasonable safeguards and least-privilege access.

Children

This site is not intended for children under 13. If you believe a child provided data, contact us and we’ll remove it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. We’ll change the “Last updated” date and, if changes are material, provide a notice on the site.
